To avoid problems during brooding, careful preparations should be made before entering the chicks.
Generally do the following:
According to the capacity of the chicken brooding house and its own economic conditions, the production positioning is carried out, and the hatching plan and the annual production plan are formulated.
The brooding house requires dryness, good thermal insulation performance, good lighting and ventilation conditions, and is easy to operate and hygienic and epidemic prevention, and the brooding house should be repaired and circuit safety inspection and maintenance before entering the chicks. Rinse, disinfect, and close doors and windows after drying.
For the brooding house and the surrounding environment of the chicken farm, the rodent control and weeding work should be done, and the drainage should be kept smooth.
The normal operation of thermal insulation equipment is one of the keys to the success of brooding. Others, such as whether lighting and ventilation equipment are normal, whether drinking fountains and buckets are ready, etc.
When using ground brooding, the litter should be sterilized in advance, dried and used for later use. Generally, the litter includes shavings, sawn wood, and short wheat seedlings. The litter is required to be dry, absorbent, soft, odor-free and mildew-free. If conditions permit, it is better to lay fine sand on the ground first, and then lay the bedding material on it.
(1) 5-6 days before entering the chicks, use 20 grams of potassium permanganate and 40 ml of formalin per cubic meter of brooding house for airtight fumigation and disinfection, and open doors and windows for ventilation after 24 hours.
(2) Drinking fountains and barrels can be soaked, rinsed, and dried with the ready-made potassium permanganate aqueous solution or singalite solution for later use.
(3) Equipped with feed, medicines and vaccines during the brooding period.
(4) Implement tools, turnover boxes, vehicles, etc. for good luck chicks.
(5) Warm and debug the day before entering the chicks to ensure that the temperature of the brooding room meets the requirements of brooding.
(6) Other equipment preparation: beak cutter, syringe, sprayer, dropper, thermometer, bucket, record sheet, etc.
The vehicle for transporting chicks should be kept warm and windproof to prevent the cold wind from blowing directly to the chicks; the container for the chickens should be ventilated to prevent the chicks from dying due to hypoxia, and the packing density should be properly controlled to prevent heat. It is best to use a special turnover box for chicks.
7.About the misunderstanding of brooding
(1) The chicks need to use warm water for drinking, do not use cold water, it is easy to catch cold.
(2) The indoor temperature should be learned according to the condition of the flock. Never copy the thermometer on the book, and don’t blindly only look at the thermometer without looking at the flock. If the chickens open their mouths to breathe and pant, it means that the temperature is too high. If they spread out evenly, they are healthy and lively. This is a relatively normal and suitable temperature. If they are crowded together, it means that the temperature is low and needs to be raised.
(3) Prevent thieves when ventilating
This is very important. Some friends know that ventilation is more important. Air convection can keep the indoor clean air and avoid excessive ammonia gas. However, we need to pay attention to preventing draughts, because draughts are more likely to cause the chicks to catch a cold.
(4) Sufficient drinking water and eating utensils
Keep the chickens drinking water and diet evenly, so that the brooding house chickens can maintain uniform growth and uniformity, and it is convenient to transfer to groups in the later stage.
(5) Eliminate sick and weak chicks in time
For sick and weak chicks, they should be eliminated in time, or they should be picked out and raised separately, otherwise the overall uniformity will be affected, and sometimes the disease will directly infect other healthy chickens.
